"Private" YouTube videos expose thumbnail images

Thanks to a PrivacyBlog reader for pointing me to this article: Blackhat SEO – Esrun » Youtube privacy failure

It looks like it is easy to find thumbnail images from YouTube videos that have been marked private.

If you have any such videos, go back and check that you are comfortable with the information in the thumbnails being public, or delete the video completely.

    Hi Lance,

Is it “safe” to enable javascript while using Anonymizer Universal?

    I’m suspecting it isn’t.

Anonymizer does not strip out active content like JavaScript because that would break the functionality of a large fraction of websites. “Safe” is always relative you your threat. If you are worried about tracking by advertisers and normal businesses, you should be OK using JavaScript, but if you are concerned about more aggressive opponents, then you might want to turn off all active content and consider additional safeguards as well.
